Meet Makenzie Cummings at Psychiatry of the Palm Beaches

Makenzie Cummings went into medicine to make a difference in people’s lives and finds very rewarding that she has helped so many people “live their best life.” Her awareness of the importance of mental health came at an early age when a family member, suffering from depression and anxiety, received very effective help. Makenzie saw their full recovery and the amazing difference that excellent mental healthcare provided. While studying medicine at Florida State University, Makenzie’s first rotation was mental health. As she worked with patients, she was inspired by how her patients improved within a couple of weeks and began to strongly consider a career in mental health.

Psychiatry of the Palm Beaches inspired Makenzie immediately with its focus on psychotherapy, which gives its patients tools to implement in their own lives to overcome adversity and personal struggles. Makenzie finds psychiatry to be a very rewarding area of medicine for both patient and provider; she enjoys the ongoing partnership with her patients to achieve results and be their greatest encourager or confidante.

Makenzie enjoys helping patients improve in all aspects of their lives and is passionate about treating patients with anxiety and depression. These conditions are more common than people realize and can be treated! Everyone has levels of anxiety, and it is how we navigate this natural apprehension that allows us to move forward and be successful. Makenzie also has a background in Health and Exercise Physiology, helping others with their physical health. She believes that improving physical health can be important to mental health and vice versa.

Her goal is to positively impact patients and help them succeed in their chosen endeavors and in difficult life situations. Makenzie’s patients find very rewarding this successful collaboration together that enables them to work towards being the best version of themselves.
