Dr. Peter Gobar is a board-certified psychiatrist with a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Kentucky, who has been dedicated to helping people recover from anxiety depression, and many other conditions to live their best life. Peter is a man of strong faith and enjoys helping people find hope and overcome whatever emotional or mental situations they face. While he often helps people with conditions such as mild depression or high stress from jobs or personal relationships, he has worked successfully with many difficult cases of depression or psychosis. Dr. Gobar believes steadfastly in the power of faith, hope, and love and applies these actively in his medical practice.
Dr. Gobar has over 20 years of experience as a psychiatrist and had the honor to serve as Psychiatric Medical Director for JFK Hospital in Atlantis and then as Medical Director for outpatient services for patients needing intense therapy. From his first rotation in psychiatry, he was recognized for his ability. A kind and compassionate man, Dr. Gobar finds his choice to be a doctor of psychiatric medicine very rewarding and enjoys helping his patients achieve mental and emotional well-being. His professional perspective is to practice psychiatry with a spiritual-biological-psychological-social approach, with thoughtful excellence of care and psycho-education. As a young man, he learned that every human is worthy of understanding and in his own words, “I internalized that belief to the very core of who I am.” Dr. Gobar uses this awareness and understanding to help his patients recover and learn to live their best life.
His non-work interests include home life, cultivating ever-better friendships, computational fluid dynamics, all manner of mechanical things, reading, music, and usually, a dog.
