Carl is a board-certified Physician Assistant who received his master’s degree from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences University. Carl’s inspiration for working in medicine has always been to provide patients with the highest level of care possible. His unrelenting goal is to actively help his patients become their best selves. Before working with Dr. Husted, Carl spent time working in the field of neurology, where he worked closely with individuals with a wide range of neurological diagnoses, including depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and sleep difficulties.
From almost the beginning of his medical career, Carl Brescia was helping patients “live their best life” in the face of both typical life challenges we all face and difficult life events caused by neurological conditions. Working with a deeply dedicated doctor who would help patients until late at night, Carl found his passion and greatest impact was helping his patients psychologically overcome their sometimes-daunting physical challenges and the anxiety and depression they faced daily. As he achieved a deeper connection with his patients and saw the impact he was having on their lives and mental health, he became passionate about a career in psychiatry.
Throughout his career, Carl’s caring approach has helped many patients who felt anxious and depressed, ultimately allowing them to lead a fulfilling life. When working in neurology, he helped many patients struggling with anxiety, depression, and other health issues work towards improvement in their mood and lifestyle. While watching his patients feel better and thrive, Carl was inspired and motivated to want to connect more with people on a deeper level in their journey to achieve their best lives. With his background in Division 2 athletics and the psychology of winning, as well as working with physically challenged patients in neurology, one of Carl’s strengths is to help people overcome mental and physical limitations and to learn how to win and achieve more in the difficult situations in their life. He also has helped many patients under immense stress at home and work with coping and how to find ways to excel or consistently function well in challenging situations, including student-athletes and others who need to perform. Carl is looking forward to helping all patients become empowered by their mental health.
