Born and raised in South Florida, Jienne has always been drawn to helping others. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Florida State University, followed by her nursing degree through Chamberlain University, and later her doctoral degree from Florida International University. At FIU, Jienne’s doctoral research focused on antenatal and postpartum depression, an area she became deeply passionate about after witnessing its impact firsthand during her years as a NICU and PICU nurse.
Her education reflects more than academic achievement. Jienne has always been fascinated by the mind, how people think, how emotions shape behavior, and how life experiences influence mental health. That curiosity became the foundation of her work and continues to guide the way she cares for patients today.
Jienne is not a traditional provider. She is known for creating immediate psychological safety, the kind that makes individuals feel seen, heard, and genuinely understood within minutes of walking through the door. Her warmth and transparency put people at ease naturally, making even the most difficult conversations feel approachable.
Jienne describes her approach as both compassionate and clinically effective. She says: “Patients don’t leave with just a diagnosis or a plan. They leave feeling empowered, supported, and capable of meaningful change.” Her care is collaborative and personalized, built alongside each patient to reflect their individual needs and goals.
“People are my passion. Since I was little, I wanted to save the world.” – Jienne Torres
Since childhood, Jienne has always been drawn to people and the stories they carry. Growing up, TV shows like Rescue 911 sparked her early interest in medicine, but she found herself especially curious about the emotional experiences people carry and the ways mental health shapes every part of life.
Her work in NICU and PICU settings played a meaningful role in shaping her path. Supporting children and families during some of their most vulnerable moments gave her a deeper understanding of the emotional struggles that often go unspoken. Through that work, she developed a strong passion for women’s mental health, particularly after witnessing many mothers navigating antenatal and postpartum depression. Those experiences inspired her doctoral research and deepened her commitment to providing care that supports the whole person, beyond the bedside.
Jienne has shared that becoming a mother strengthened her calling to work in pediatrics. Her daughter inspired her to better understand children’s mental health and the emotional challenges they face as they grow. That personal connection continues to shape her approach, allowing her to care for your family’s needs with warmth, empathy, and genuine understanding.
Jienne does not see mental health care as simply treating a diagnosis. She believes every person’s emotional wellbeing is shaped by their biology, life experiences, relationships, and environment. Her approach is holistic and rooted in compassion, with the understanding that healing requires looking at the full picture.
Her philosophy is rooted in compassion, with the goal of helping patients develop confidence, insight, resilience, and long-term stability. She wants every person to always feel seen, heard, and valued, and she wants each appointment to leave them equipped with tools that extend far beyond the room. At the center of her work is a simple belief: people heal best when they feel truly understood.
Outside of psychiatry, Jienne loves exploring new places, trying different foods, and experiencing something new whenever she can. She enjoys live music and any experience that brings joy and genuine connection.
Spending time with her daughter is, without question, her favorite thing. “I am constantly amazed by the young woman she is becoming,” she says. And at home, her dog Charlie keeps her grounded, adding a little more heart to an already full life.
Those who know Jienne best describe her as empathetic, thoughtful, compassionate, and inspiring. She has been affectionately nicknamed “the sunshine” because of the warmth and grounded energy she brings to others. Patients often describe her in a similar way, as genuine, approachable, and easy to talk to. Her hope is that every person she works with feels supported, understood, and confident in their ability to move forward to live their best lives.
