What Is Hannah’s Background?

Hannah grew up in Orlando, Florida, and earned her BSN from Florida State University and her MSN from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

During her nursing school psychiatry rotation, Hannah spent time working in a state mental health hospital. That experience had a lasting impact on her and opened her eyes to how important compassion, empathy, and dignity are in mental health care.

“The need for empathetic providers became apparent to me during this time and fueled my passion even further.”

— Hannah Braswell

That experience helped shape the provider Hannah wanted to become. It strengthened her desire to offer the kind of thoughtful, compassionate care that allows patients to feel respected, valued, and understood.

What Led Hannah to Psychiatry?

Hannah’s passion for psychiatry is also deeply personal. Growing up, she watched someone very dear to her struggle with their mental health. She saw firsthand the way society stigmatizes mental health and shames those who are struggling, and it inspired her to take action.

Those experiences, motivated by a deep love for people, inspired Hannah to make a difference in people’s lives. In her practice, she strives to make patients feel heard, seen, and understood; the things she wished more people had offered to those close to her.

She believes that reaching out for mental health care should be met with compassion, not judgment, and she works to make each person feel comfortable bringing their authentic self into the room.

What Is Hannah’s Philosophy of Care?

Hannah wants her patients to leave each appointment feeling encouraged, supported, and empowered with a sense of purpose. She wants every person who walks through her door to feel loved and accepted for exactly who they are. She offers each person with the support they need to grow, heal, and move forward.

One of Hannah’s greatest strengths is her curiosity. She genuinely wants to understand who her patients are beyond their symptoms or the reason they scheduled an appointment. That curiosity helps her gain a deeper understanding of how each person thinks, feels, and moves through the world.

Hannah strongly believes in working together with each patient to develop a treatment plan that is unique to the person. No two people are alike, and she believes no two treatment plans should be alike either. This approach ensures that each individual leaves their appointment feeling excited and empowered to live their best lives.

What Sets Hannah Apart as a Provider?

Hannah brings a calm presence, genuine empathy, and a warm approach to every patient interaction.  She views life as an adventure and values fun and spontaneity just as much as stillness and reflection. That balance, the ability to be both grounded and open to whatever comes next, is part of what makes her such a natural fit for Psychiatry of the Palm Beaches.

She also understands the importance of finding healthy ways to manage stress and reconnect with the present moment. Throughout her life, Hannah has always enjoyed working with her hands, whether crocheting, knitting, embroidering, playing piano, or sculpting clay. As she has grown older, she has come to understand the profound therapeutic benefits of creating something physical.

Hannah believes that creative activities can serve as meaningful therapeutic tools and coping skills. She actively encourages her patients to help combat a wide array of symptoms. Being able to calm the mind by putting all thought and energy into making something brings peace, a sense of accomplishment, and purpose. Hannah believes deeply in the healing power of creating, and she brings that belief into her clinical work every day.

What Does Hannah Do Outside of Psychiatry?

Outside of psychiatry, Hannah is drawn to hobbies that slow her down and bring her back to herself. She loves reading, playing the piano, taking long walks in nature, crocheting and knitting, and spending intentional time with friends and family.

Hannah cares deeply about the people in her life and brings that same genuine warmth and attentiveness to her relationships with her patients: with her whole heart, genuine curiosity, and a warmth that makes everyone around her feel a little more at ease. Her friends and family would describe her as observant, gentle, nurturing, and honest. She naturally looks beyond the surface and enjoys understanding the deeper meaning behind people’s experiences.

Hannah is committed to creating a space where every patient feels seen, heard, and valued. Through her compassionate approach and genuine desire to understand each person, she strives to support her patients throughout their mental health journey, while encouraging and helping them find ways to thrive and live their best lives.
