Dr. Lorenzo was born in New Jersey. She moved to Florida at a young age, where she was raised in Broward County. She attended the University of Florida where she earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology, with a minor in Theatre. She went to Medical School at New York Medical College and completed her adult Psychiatry Residency at Westchester Medical Center. Dr. Lorenzo then pursued an adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Harvard Medical School at Cambridge Health Alliance hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she discovered her passion for working with children, teens, and young adults. In 2022, Dr. Lorenzo and her family moved to Jacksonville, Florida, to be closer to family after her son was diagnosed with autism. This experience has given her a whole new perspective on parenting, supporting children with disabilities, and understanding the emotional journey families go through. It has helped her develop patience, accept uncertainty, while also being realistic to your expectations. She learned that asking for help is necessary and learned how to be comfortable with not being okay sometimes. She uses these skills when helping someone live their best lives.
Dr. Lorenzo went into Psychiatry because she was always interested in human behavior and drawn to helping others. Her passion for mental health sparked in high school, when a close friend of hers struggled with severe depression and anxiety. Watching her friend face such difficulties motivated Dr. Lorenzo to start helping others, which led her to volunteer in her community. She began by volunteering with children with disabilities, and later, in college, she volunteered for pregnant teens who were turned away from their homes. These volunteer experiences inspired her to continue the path of helping others build confidence and improve their mental health. Dr. Lorenzo is passionate about psychiatry and specializes in working with children and young adults. She believes that overall well-being goes beyond physical health.
Dr. Lorenzo specializes in caring for patients ages 4–30. She takes care of her patients with empathy and understanding. She does not judge, she gives her full attention, and she takes the time to get to know each person. Her patients often describe her as approachable and easy to talk to. She is a good listener who provides support, kindness, and understanding. Children and teens feel at ease with Dr. Lorenzo because of her warmth, patience, and encouraging approach, which helps them open up and actively participate in their care. Dr. Lorenzo believes that working with her patients as a team is essential to providing quality care. She believes that treatment plans depend on the person and works closely with each individual to find a personalized plan. She takes the time to learn each patient’s story, their challenges, their strengths, and their goals for the future. Therapy and learning about oneself are very important for long term success. Her expertise with children and adolescents also helps her better understand her young adult patients, as many patterns of behavior begin in childhood.
She spends most of her free time with her husband of 10 years and her 2 children. She is a proud gymnastics mom, loves swimming, hiking, writing poetry, and exploring different forms of art.
